Characteristics

Orthovisc has a molecular weight of 1.80 x 106with simultaneously high rheological viscosity.

Granulomatous inflammation, which seems to be induced by very high molecular weight preparations due to their low solubility, can be virtually ruled out.

Orthovisc retains its viscosity optimally under load. Preparations quickly lose their viscoelastic properties under load and liquefy.

Orthovisc excellently improves the viscoelasticity of the synovial fluid. Lubricating and shock-absorbing properties are established.

STUDY CONCLUSION

Clinical studies show that treatment with ORTHOVISC relieves discomfort and also functional impairment in osteoarthritis over a period of at least six months.
The placebo-controlled study shows that treatment with ORTHOVISC significantly reduces the pain associated with gonarthrosis and that joint function improves significantly.
By reducing the treatment cycle to three injections, ORTHOVISC also improves treatment comfort and the injection-related risk of infection is reduced.
